A grill across from the Cistern

We are a charcoal grill in the middle of Sultanahmet, directly across from the Basilica Cistern. The queue for the museum passes our window, and people usually arrive tired and hungry. Our job is to sit them down and feed them properly.

The room

We have thirty tables across two rooms. The front room faces the street and is all windows, you watch people come out of the Cistern from there. The back room has a wooden floor and is quieter, larger groups usually take it.

We keep a high chair. Nobody with a baby waits at the door.

The menu runs to nine sections and a hundred and thirty six dishes. Breakfast through to dessert, all of it from the same kitchen, nothing bought in on a plate. Every price is written on the menu, and the number on your bill is the number you read there.
